Job description

About Distinction LLC
Distinction, LLC is a federal contractor headquartered in Mississippi with operations supporting the U.S. Department of Labor's Job Corps program. We are a HUBZone-certified small business with a growing portfolio and plans to expand our work across the federal marketplace.
We take pride in doing good work, building strong teams, and being a company people want to work with. As Distinction grows, we're strengthening our corporate team with experienced leaders who can help us scale without losing the standards that got us here.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to join Distinction at an exciting point in our growth and have a meaningful role in where we go next.
About the role
The Corporate Director of Finance will oversee corporate financial operations, including forecasting, cash flow, vendor payments, benefits reconciliation, budgeting, and financial reporting. The role will also provide financial oversight to our federal contracts, ensuring contract leaders understand their budgets and are managing them responsibly.
What you'll do
  • Lead the company's corporate finance function and provide executive leadership with a clear picture of Distinction's financial position and outlook.
  • Develop financial forecasts and monitor cash flow, revenue, expenses, and other indicators of financial health.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing analysis of actual performance against budget.
  • Oversee accounts payable and vendor payments, banking relationships, benefits reconciliation, and other core financial processes.
  • Establish and maintain financial procedures, systems, controls, and reporting practices that support accuracy and accountability.
  • Oversee contract-level financial performance and work with contract leaders to ensure budgets and expenditures are properly managed.
  • Review financial performance across contracts, identify concerns or trends, and recommend corrective action when needed.
  • Support executive decision-making by evaluating the financial impact of contracts, business opportunities, and significant expenditures.
  • Ensure financial practices comply with applicable accounting standards and federal contracting requirements.
  • Lead and develop assigned finance staff and coordinate effectively with external accountants, auditors, brokers, vendors, and other financial partners.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Strong experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience overseeing day-to-day corporate financial operations and developing effective financial processes and systems.
  • Federal government contracting experience strongly preferred; Job Corps experience is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and translate it into clear, practical guidance for executive and operational leaders.
  • Corporate-level leadership presence with sound judgment and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • High standards for accuracy, accountability, and professional conduct.
  • Proficiency with financial/accounting systems and Microsoft Office; QuickBooks experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.

The Leadership Standard
At Distinction, a corporate title comes with a higher standard. If you're ready to contribute at a high level and help strengthen a growing organization, we welcome your application.
The pay range for this role is:
90,000 - 100,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
