Job description

Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is a leading provider of lumber and building materials, serving the construction industry since 1934. We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented Fireplace Service Technician to join our team. As a Fireplace Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing residential fireplaces. Your technical expertise and commitment to quality will contribute to our reputation for exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, service, and repair gas, wood-burning, and electric fireplaces according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and diagnostic inspections to ensure fireplaces are operating efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform necessary repairs, including replacing parts and adjusting.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, explaining fireplace operation, and offering maintenance tips.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and parts used.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve service-related issues.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest fireplace technologies and industry standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in fireplace installation, maintenance, or repair preferred.
  • Knowledge of gas, wood-burning, and electric fireplace systems.
  • Understanding of venting systems, gas connections, and safety protocols.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation manuals, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various environments, including outdoor settings and tight spaces.
