We are looking for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to guide financial planning and organizational performance for a mission-driven healthcare organization in Kansas City. This executive will shape long-range financial strategy, strengthen fiscal accountability, and provide insight that supports sustainable growth and high-quality patient services. The role works closely with senior leadership, the board, and operational teams to align financial priorities with organizational goals in a complex reimbursement environment. Experience in Healthcare is a MUST.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the organization’s financial direction by developing strategies that improve long-term stability, liquidity, and overall business performance.
• Oversee core finance operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, to ensure accuracy and timely decision support.
• Direct revenue cycle performance and evaluate reimbursement trends across Medicaid, Medicare, and other payer sources to optimize financial outcomes.
• Manage financial compliance activities, internal controls, and risk oversight to support regulatory adherence and sound governance.
• Provide executive leadership for grant-related financial management, including tracking, reporting, and stewardship of restricted funds.
• Partner with the executive team, board members, and department leaders to translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
• Supervise financial planning tied to community health operations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support mission-driven objectives.
• Monitor specialized healthcare funding areas, including 340B-related financial oversight and cost reporting requirements, and address process improvements when needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, preferably within healthcare, nonprofit, or another reimbursement-intensive setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of grant accounting, revenue cycle leadership, and government payer reimbursement models such as Medicaid and Medicare.
• Experience supporting regulated healthcare compliance environments.
• Strong technical proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and business technology platforms.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across executive leadership, boards, and geographically dispersed teams.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities supported by accurate financial interpretation and business judgment.
• High ethical standards, strong accountability, and a results-focused approach with the ability to manage priorities with urgency.
