Essential Job Functions:
โ€ข Prepares and submits accurate hospital claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
โ€ข Reviews patient accounts for completeness and accuracy prior to billing.
โ€ข Ensures compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations.
โ€ข Posts payments and adjustments accurately to patient accounts.
โ€ข Works claim edits and resolves billing rejections and denials in a timely manner.
โ€ข Communicates with insurance companies regarding claim status, corrections, and appeals.
โ€ข Assists patients with billing inquiries and provides excellent customer service.
โ€ข Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
โ€ข Collaborates with clinical and registration departments to ensure proper charge capture.
โ€ข Assists with month-end reporting and revenue reconciliation as needed.
โ€ข Posting charges daily for multiple departments.
โ€ข Daily reviewing of a statement report in the RCM Software and either approving the statement, applying a needed adjustment or sending it through the RCM System to be reworked.
โ€ข Performing billing functions at minimum three days a month while the Lead Billing Coordinator is Billing Long Term Care and when the Lead Billing Coordinator is out.
โ€ข Performing cash management duties at least once monthly and covering that position when the Cash Manager is out.
โ€ข Performing the balancing of Long Term Care accounts.
โ€ข On a quarterly basis working with the HIM staff to correct and submit the ACHA report for inpatient and outpatient.
โ€ข Completes assigned duties within required time frame, according to established schedules or workflow requirements.
โ€ข Serves as resource to co-workers.
โ€ข Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
โ€ข Supports and promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values; adheres to all hospital policies and procedures; commits to the Standards of Conduct; maintains professional appearance.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
โ€ข High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
โ€ข Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience and cash management, preferably in a hospital setting.
โ€ข Knowledge of hospital billing procedures, insurance claims processing, and reimbursement guidelines.
โ€ข Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care billing.
โ€ข Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and billing software systems.
โ€ข Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes.
โ€ข Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
โ€ข Strong organizational and time management skills.
โ€ข Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
