Job description

Location
This position is 100% in-office and reports to our facility on site in Syracuse, NY.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail oriented Financial Support Specialist to join our accounting team. As an integral part of our organization, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Financial Accounting team. This role assists with routine accounting tasks, including data entry, account reconciliation preparation, invoice processing, expense tracking, and documentation management. The specialist helps ensure financial records are accurate, organized, and compliant with internal policies and deadlines. By handling transactional and support duties, the Financial Support Specialist enables the Staff Accountant to focus on higher-level accounting functions and reporting.
Salary Range
$24.00 - $31.00 per hour, based on experience
Hours
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Staff Accountant with daily accounting tasks, including data entry and transaction processing.
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities by gathering data and verifying accuracy.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation preparation.
  • Track and maintain financial schedules, spreadsheets, and supporting workpapers.
  • Assist in generating internal financial reports and summaries as requested.
  • Ensure documentation supports audit and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to obtain required financial information.
  • Support process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and sensitive information at all times.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Accounting required
  • Outstanding organization and planning abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Successfully clear drug screen and background check to meet industry and security licensing requirements
