The Position

Provides financial and analytical support across the investment lifecycle for DPM US, helping enable effective capital allocation and portfolio decision-making at Novo Nordisk. The role supports development and evaluation of business cases, portfolio transparency, month-end investment reporting, and adherence to investment governance standards through robust analysis and accurate data management. This position contributes to value realization, portfolio visibility, and continuous improvement of investment management practices through application of the PEM model and effective use of Clarity.

Relationships

Reports to Director or above. Interacts with project sponsors, leadership teams, Finance, Engineering, Production, and Portfolio Management stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a finance partner supporting investment decision-making at Novo Nordisk by providing structured financial analysis and insights across the investment lifecycle
  • Support development and evaluation of business cases in alignment with Novo Nordisk's Project Execution Model (PEM model), ensuring financial assumptions, cost estimates, risks, and expected benefits are robust and consistent
  • Perform detailed financial analysis of investment opportunities, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessments to support informed decision-making
  • Ensure adherence to Novo Nordisk investment governance standards by supporting consistent application of policies, processes, and approval requirements
  • Maintain and update investment data in Clarity (portfolio management system), ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with approved business cases and project timelines
  • Support consolidation and reconciliation of investment financials as part of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Prepare investment reporting and analysis, highlighting deviations from plan, key drivers, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization or value improvement
  • Support transparency of the investment portfolio by tracking project progress, financial phasing, and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with project teams, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to ensure financial assumptions reflect operational reality and evolving project conditions
  • Identify inconsistencies or risks in financial data, assumptions, or project execution and escalate issues appropriately to support corrective actions
  • Support prioritization and allocation of capital by providing financial input into portfolio trade-offs, constraints, and sequencing considerations
  • Monitor financial performance of approved investments against business case expectations and support tracking of costs, timelines, and key milestones
  • Contribute to post-investment reviews and lessons learned activities to improve future investment planning and execution at Novo Nordisk
  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting tools (including Clarity), and analytical methodologies related to investment management
  • Ensure alignment between investment financials, accounting treatment, and reporting requirements in collaboration with Accounting and Finance teams
  • Drive strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making in a complex and dynamic environment while building credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and collaborate across functions to deliver pragmatic, high-value business outcomes
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field of study from an accredited university required and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience within Investment Management, Corporate Finance, Capital Project Finance, Business Finance, Portfolio Management, Management Consulting, Strategic Finance required
  • In lieu of Master's Degree with eight (8) years of experience, may consider a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience within Investment Management, Corporate Finance, Capital Project Finance, Business Finance, Portfolio Management, Management Consulting, Strategic Finance required
  • Proven experience developing and evaluating complex business cases required
  • Strong expertise in Financial modeling, Capital investment analysis, Portfolio management, Strategic planning, Investment governance and Risk assessment required
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities required
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills required
  • Professional proficiency in English required
  • Experience from pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, engineering, or highly regulated industries preferred
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital investments and expansion programs preferred
  • Strong understanding of project management and capital project execution preferred
  • Experience presenting recommendations to senior leadership and governance boards preferred
  • Experience with portfolio management tools and advanced analytics platforms preferred
  • MBA, CFA, or similar advanced qualification is considered an advantage preferred
