Job description

The Program Manager will lead Project Managers and ensure predictable delivery of client-facing projects within our PMO. This role is accountable for people leadership, portfolio execution oversight, and financial discipline across multiple projects, while also managing a limited personal project load.

The Program Manager operates post-contract award and does not own sales intake or project prioritization. Success in this role requires strong delivery leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to resolve issues within the constraints of work sold.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Project Leadership

· Provide execution oversight for assigned project portfolios, ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, quality, and financial expectations

· Own portfolio-level financial management, including budgets, EACs, cash flow, and margin performance

· Lead monthly project reviews and ensure accurate, timely EAC reporting to Finance

· Serve as the primary escalation point for project delivery issues and customer concerns

· Assign projects to PMs and resolve resourcing conflicts across concurrent work

· Actively manage a ~50% personal project load, typically higher-complexity engagements

· Enforce PMO standards and ensure consistent, high-quality project reporting

· Participate in proposal reviews when requested to assess delivery risk and feasibility

· Contribute to PMO leadership initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Team Leadership

· Lead, coach, and develop team of Project Managers, including one-on-ones, performance reviews, and training

· Team members embrace and demonstrate Vertech’s culture and core values.

· Team members maintain technologically current and relevant skillsets.

· Team members are consistently and meaningfully engaged by management, enjoy working at Vertech, and feel valued, successful, and hopeful in their positions.

· Work with HR on team development, performance, reviews, and staffing levels.

· Successfully onboard and incorporate new hires into the Vertech structure

· Participate in the hiring process for establishing team fit.

· Understand the technical and soft-skill developmental opportunities for each team member. Develop training plans for each team member.

· Addresses team and individual issues diplomatically with candor and professionalism.

Qualifications Include

· 8+ years of project management experience delivering client-facing projects

· 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring Project Managers

· Strong financial and forecasting skills, including EAC development and cash flow management

· Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

· Excellent communication, coaching, and escalation management skills

· Preferred experience in technical, engineering, automation, or integration environments

· PMP or equivalent certification preferred

· Experience managing complex or high-risk customer projects preferred
