Position Summary
Remodel Health is seeking a strategic, operationally minded, and highly analytical Director of Financial Operations to lead and scale the organization's Financial Operations function. This leader will oversee the integrity, scalability, compliance, and performance of all premium payment, billing, carrier payment, banking, and financial operational workflows across the organization.
The Director of Financial Operations will serve as the senior operational leader responsible for building sustainable financial processes, strengthening internal controls, driving automation initiatives, and developing a high-performing Financial Operations team. This role requires a leader who can operate both strategically and tactically, partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Advisement, Launch, Finance, and Executive Leadership to improve operational outcomes and customer experience.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, systems-oriented, process-minded, technically savvy, and passionate about operational excellence and team development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Operations Strategy & Leadership
  • Lead and develop the Financial Operations department, including Managers, Senior Specialists, and Specialists.
  • Establish department vision, goals, KPIs, and operational standards aligned with company objectives.
  • Build scalable operational frameworks to support organizational growth and evolving product offerings.
  • Partner with executive leadership to drive strategic operational initiatives and organizational efficiencies.
  • Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, customer care, and operational excellence.
2. Billing & Premium Payment Operations
  • Oversee all customer billing and premium payment operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Ensure successful execution of:
    • carrier premium payments
    • ACH processing
    • invoice generation
    • payment reconciliations
    • banking workflows
    • payment exception handling
  • Develop operational controls and escalation frameworks to minimize financial risk and payment discrepancies.
  • Monitor operational metrics and trends to proactively identify areas of concern or improvement.
3. Banking, Reconciliation & Financial Controls
  • Oversee banking relationships, cash movement processes, reconciliations, and payment integrity workflows.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with company policies and external regulations.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to support month-end close processes, reporting accuracy, and financial integrity.
  • Develop and maintain standardized reconciliation and audit procedures across all financial operations functions.
4. Systems, Automation & Operational Scalability
  • Lead financial operations systems strategy across platforms including:
    • RH Platform
    • Sage Intacct
    • Salesforce
    • Power BI
    • Help Scout
    • Banking and payment systems
  • Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual touchpoints, improve reporting accuracy, and increase operational throughput.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to prioritize system enhancements and operational tooling improvements.
  • Oversee workflow documentation, process mapping, and SOP development.
5. Reporting, Analytics & Process Optimization
  • Develop and maintain operational reporting dashboards and KPI frameworks.
  • Analyze billing, payment, banking, and operational trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations regarding operational health, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead special projects related to financial operations transformation, tooling implementation, and organizational scalability.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with:
    • Customer Success
    • Advisement

    • Finance & Accounting
    • Sales Leadership
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex payment, billing, carrier, and operational issues.
  • Support organizational alignment between operational execution and customer experience outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial operations, billing operations, accounting operations, banking operations, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing operational or financial teams.
  • Strong understanding of:
