Job description

Provide general financial aid counseling to students. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will assist the department with processing all aid eligible programs. Specific day-to-day responsibilities include supervision of the overall operation of department staff, work study students, coordinating aid processing, authorization, and disbursement processes with the Bursar's Office. Position entails managing the College's student financial literacy programs and continually updating information that can assist prospective and current students through a seamless financial aid process for the Kosciusko and Fort Wayne campuses. This position will service the Fort Wayne Service area with a minimum of one day per week at the Kosciusko Campus.
Salary:
$38,289 to $59,805 Compensation will be commensurate with the requirements of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and education.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide both individual and group counseling regarding availability of financial assistance, explain the FAFSA application process and assist with completing of applications.

  • Process applications and other materials related to financial assistance, including Pell grant, student/parent loan applications, and assist students with verification processes to determine student eligibility.

  • Package financial aid awards, disburse funds, notify students and agencies of disbursements and process necessary reports related to federal, state and institutional aid programs.

  • Maintain accurate electronic records for student aid applicants and helps in collecting data for required reporting.

  • Monitor and enforce academic standards of progress.

  • Assist with awarding scholarships established by Ivy Tech Foundation. This will include outreach to students. Monitor scholarship software and annual updates as required.

  • Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • Communicate financial aid policy and procedure changes effectively to the Fort Wayne and Kosciusko campuses.

  • Maintain and update financial aid data on the Banner platform.

  • Process forms for external agencies including forms for housing, FSA Income and Expense forms,Workforce Development and Vocational Rehabilitation.

  • Assist in workshops such as College Goal Sunday, high school Financial Aid Nights, orientations and other activities on campus designed for students and outside entities.

Minimum Qualifications:

An associate degree or industry related certification along with three (3) to four (4) years' related work experience. Direct experience in customer service or Higher Education in one of the following areas: registration, records, financial aid, or admissions. Bachelors preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree preferably in a business discipline or public administration. Demonstrated leadership qualities preferred. Experience with financial aid information systems preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.

Official college transcripts required upon hire. All offers of employment are contingent upon an acceptable criminal background check.
