Role Summary

The Project Finance Manager is a hands-on, execution-focused role that serves as the analytical engine ofBoxPower'sFinance team. This position owns the day-to-day financial operations work acrossBoxPower'sproject portfolio: gathering and validating cost data from,procurement, and construction phases; building andmaintainingprojectmodels and reporting tools; andleveragingAI-assisted scripting to automate and accelerate repetitive financial workflows. The Project Finance Manager works closely with the Director of Finance,project leadership, and CFOto surface insights from complex cost and schedule data, supporting sound decision-making as BoxPower scales.

This role is purpose-built for someone who has worked in the financial trenchesof,construction, or capital project environments - someone who understands job costing, cost-to-complete, draw schedules, and change order tracking from firsthand experience, and who brings theAIenabled toolsand ERP horsepower to manage it at scale.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Data Collection & Financial Reporting

  • Own the collection, consolidation, and validation of financial data from ERP systems, project management tools, and internal stakeholders
  • Build andmaintaindashboards, trackers, and reports that provide real-time visibility into project costs, margins, and cash flow
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reporting packages for the Director of Finance and senior leadershipwhileworkingalongsidetheaccounting department.
  • Reconcile actuals vs. budget across projects and cost centers,identifyingand investigating variances
  • Facilitate the departmental budget reviews

Excel Modeling & Analysis

  • Design andmaintainsophisticated Excel financial models for project economics, scenario analysis, and cost forecasting
  • Build reusable templates for FP&A workflows including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and project pro formas
  • Automate Excel-based processesusing AI based tools available
  • Analyze project cost data across the full lifecycle -procurement, construction, and commissioning - toidentifycost drivers and opportunities

AI-Assisted Workflow & Automation

  • Actively use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot)that automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting tasks
  • Identifymanual, repetitive finance workflows and lead the effort to replace them with scripted or AI-assisted processes
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to deploy and iterate on internal AI tools that increase team output and analytical quality
  • Document automated workflows andmaintainclear handoff materials for the broader finance team

FP&A Support

  • Support thebudgeting process through data gathering, model building, and departmental coordination
  • Assistwith rolling financial forecasts, tracking actuals against plan and flagging risks and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain KPI tracking tied to financial and operational performance
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic and operational decisions

Accounting & ERP Operations

  • Work within the company's ERP system to extract,validate, and report on financial data across projects and cost centers
  • Coordinate with accounting on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing to ensureaccurateproject-level financials
  • Support month-end close
  • Assistinmaintainingand improving ERP data integrity and financial reporting configurations

Project Finance & Cost Management

  • Own project-level cost tracking across the full BoxPower project lifecycle:
  • Build andmaintainproject pro formas, cost-to-complete analyses, and job cost reports for active and pipeline projects
  • Track budget vs. actual by project phase and cost code, flagging variances and driving resolution with project managers
  • Maintain draw schedules, milestone billing trackers, and lender reporting packages for financed projects
  • Coordinate with construction and operations teams to capture change orders, purchase order changes, and scope adjustments in financial models

RequiredQualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 4-10years of experience in project finance, project accounting, FP&A, or financial operations - with at least 2 years directly supporting, construction, or capital project environments
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with job costing, cost-to-complete tracking, and project-level budget management
  • Expert-levelproficiencyin Microsoft Excel - pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling, and multi-project cost tracking
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Procore, Sage 300 CRE, or similar) in aconstruction context
  • Experience in FP&A: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting across projects or business units
  • Familiarity with project finance structures: draw schedules, milestone billing, lender reporting, and cost certification
  • Willingness anddemonstratedability to use AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to write scripts, automate workflows, or accelerate analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and a process-improvement mindset - comfortable identifying and fixing broken workflows

Preferred

  • Experience in renewable energy, energy storage, solar, or clean infrastructure
  • Background with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project finance or developer-side project accounting
  • Python or SQL experience for data extraction and reporting automation
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA (notrequired- demonstrable experience matters most)
