Job description

Title: Finance Managerย 
Reports To: CFOย 
Location: Remote ย 
Role overview: The Finance Manager role focuses on providing a variety of financial planning and analysis services to clients across Propeller's portfolio of early-stage startup companies. In collaboration with other Propeller senior finance leaders, you will work with a variety of high-growth clients (ranging from Seed to Series C stage) to analyze their business, build detailed financial operating models, improve their forecasting, refine their financial reporting and use data to optimize strategic decision-making. You are accountable for hitting deadlines and developing and owning finance forecasts, budgets, and analysis with guidance and supervision as needed. ย 
Responsibilities:ย 
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for a variety of business models (e-commence, tech, professional services &/or consumer product goods) ย 
  • Develop business performance reporting and custom financial & operating KPI dashboards; Report on KPIs on a monthly basis ย 
  • Work hand-in-hand with accounting team to review and cross-check monthly client financial performance ย 
  • Perform monthly variance analysis focused on actuals vs. budgets vs. constantly evolving forecasts ย 
  • Work with clients to find analytical and modeling projects outside of the normal budgeting and review process to add additional value ย 
  • Provide input and advice to clients based upon scalable best practices to improve their results, improve internal processes, reduce or optimize costs and increase sales ย 
  • Identify strategic insights and big picture conclusions through analyzing the data ย 
  • Connecting analytical findings to a broader business / industry understanding, drawing on past experience and pattern recognitionย 
  • Assist clients in the fundraising process including building investor-facing models, leading financial diligence process, working directly with VCs, etc. ย 
  • Help train Propeller's Financial Analyst team ย 
Qualifications:ย 
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years in finance-focused roles such as: ย 
  • 2+ years in investment banking and/or consulting
  • 2+ years focused on FP&A and/or strategic finance in-house at a technology or high-growth company ย 
  • Great team player and work ethic ย 
  • Superior financial modeling and presentation skills ย 
  • Deep understanding of financial principals and expanding knowledge of accounting principals ย 
  • Ability to build complex 3 statement financial forecasts and provide in depth variance analysis and insights to inform business decisions ย 
  • Comfort with data and ambiguity, and an ability to delve into details and adapt priorities on the flyย 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to distill complex thoughts and strategies into simple, actionable recommendations to Propeller team as well as our clientsย 
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple client workstreams and respond to ad-hoc requests to support business decisions in timely and efficient manner ย 
  • Ability and desire to teach others within the organization to help grow the broader internal FP&A skill set ย

Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000 plus bonus, benefits and 401k match
