About This Role
We are seeking a Business Analyst to support a strategic IFRS lending accounting transformation initiative within a global banking environment. This role will focus on analyzing IFRS accounting requirements, identifying impacts to existing US GAAP processes, and translating accounting and business needs into functional requirements for automation and reporting solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis skills with experience supporting finance, accounting, or regulatory change initiatives within banking or financial services.
Target Rate: $50 - 60/hr. W2
Location: Hybrid up to 3 days a week, sitting in either New York City or Baltimore, MD
Duration: 6+ months
What You Will Work On
  • Gather and document business, accounting, and reporting requirements from Accounting Policy, Product Control, Legal Entity Controllers (LEC), Finance, and Technology stakeholders.
  • Analyze IFRS lending accounting requirements and assess impacts to current US GAAP accounting, reporting, valuation, and disclosure processes.
  • Perform gap analyses and document business rules, process flows, functional requirements, and target-state solutions.
  • Translate accounting requirements into clear functional specifications for technology and automation teams.
  • Partner with Technology teams to support solution design, implementation, and validation.
  • Develop test scenarios and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect resolution, and business sign-off.
  • Document accounting positions, rationale, and materiality assessments related to IFRS implementation and identified US GAAP-to-IFRS differences.
  • Support process standardization, automation, and control enhancements across lending accounting processes.
  • Support project planning, status reporting, issue tracking, risk management, and preparation of materials for senior management updates.

What You Will Bring
  • 8-12 years of Business Analyst experience within Banking or Financial Services.
  • Experience supporting IFRS, finance transformation, accounting change, or regulatory reporting initiatives.
  • Strong requirements gathering, process mapping, gap analysis, and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial reporting concepts.
  • Experience working with Finance, Accounting Policy, Product Control, Controllers, or Regulatory Reporting teams.
  • Experience partnering with Technology teams to deliver system enhancements and automation solutions.
  • Hands-on UAT and implementation support experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Accounting or Finance degree

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • IFRS 9 experience and knowledge of lending/loan accounting.
  • Exposure to Expected Credit Loss (ECL), impairment, amortized cost, and Effective Interest Rate (EIR) concepts.
  • Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, or Capital Markets experience.
  • Finance transformation or accounting automation project experience.
