Senior Accountant
Reston, VA or remote

Responsibilities
You will be the owner of accounts payable and payroll functions. You will also provide general ledger accounting support across our multiple legal entities in Unanet. You will have 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, a strong command of Unanet, and the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Daily Tasks
  • Manage organization setup and maintenance, including new vendors, customers, employees, and 1099s
  • Enter vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Review bank activity daily to capture and record auto-pay expenses
  • Serve as the Finance point of contact for expense report review and approval
  • Process and post expense reports
  • Administer Unanet user setup and access

Weekly Tasks
  • Run weekly AP aging reports and process approved vendor payments in coordination with FP&A
  • Process vendor payments in Unanet and set up ACH/wire transfers in the bank
  • Track 1099 annual payments
  • Manage corporate AMEX credit card program, including:
    • Importing AMEX data into Unanet
    • Managing corporate subscriptions
    • Entering AMEX transactions in Unanet via journal entries (JEs)
  • Work with vendors to reconcile any discrepancies

Semi-Monthly Tasks
  • Process semi-monthly payroll for multiple entities in Paylocity
  • Process expense report payments in Paylocity
  • Enter payroll transactions in Unanet via journal entries
  • Post labor costs once timesheets are finalized
  • Manage garnishments, including setup, deductions, and remittance
  • Process 401(k) contributions post-payroll
  • Manage 401(k) loan deductions and tracking
  • Handle payroll tax notices and serve as the point of contact for communications with Paycor on payroll tax matters
  • Resolve payroll-related state tax issues as they arise

Monthly Tasks
  • Perform bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
  • Complete month-end balance sheet account reconciliations for all entities
  • Prepare and submit reclassification and month-end journal entries

Quarterly Reporting
  • Prepare and submit B&O local tax reports
  • Review payroll tax reports for accuracy

Annual Tasks & Reporting
  • Provide support during the annual audit
  • File personal property tax and BPOL tax returns
  • Track and report 1099s by January 31

Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned within Finance and across other functional areas as needed

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience in an accounting role
  • Proficiency in Unanet (required - candidates without Unanet experience will not be considered)
  • Experience with accounts payable and payroll processing
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote environment
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of assigned functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Paylocity payroll platform
  • Multi-legal entity (MLE) accounting experience
  • Experience supporting government contractors
  • Familiarity with B&O tax filings and personal property/BPOL tax reporting
