Job Description
The Production Operator is a quality oriented, work team resource that works assignment by assignment to support growth and improvement for individuals and teams within Operations. The Operator will also accept ownership for various critical processes necessary to running the equipment daily. In addition, this person will assist the Berry Global team in achieving our vision of providing the highest quality products that exceed customer expectations.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for promoting safety awareness and keeping safety as a number one priority on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for conducting monthly safety audits.
  • A high standard for Quality and an understanding of the types of defects that will affect film performance at the customer level.
  • Continuously pursues the establishment of a high participation work team environment.
  • Assists the work team and follows criteria adhering to the best practices.
  • Assist in training of co-workers.
  • Responsible for documenting trial results.
  • Responsible for trial preparation and trial plan documentation.
  • Update and maintain current ISO documentation and incorporate Berry's vision and values into daily work team operations.
  • Coordinate other projects as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Provide Operational skills during extrusion trials.
  • Ensure all raw materials, finished-good, and scrap is accurately documented and organized.
  • Pursue cross training on all equipment.
  • Expected to proactively pursue position progression and cross training.
  • Responsible assisting in training needed to develop Operator Trainees.
  • Participate in work team trouble shooting to help document best practices.
  • Participate in all pretrial meetings.

Essential Functions:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing stairs
  • Working from secured platforms of up to 40 feet high.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Wear all personal safety equipment required by Company policy and follow all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and consistently perform daily tasks i.e. (paperwork, computer entries, cleaning)
  • Ability to safety operate machinery.

Qualifications:
  • Experience of sufficient length to prove competency in the extrusion / slitting process and all aspects of Shop Operations.
  • Results oriented.
  • Must possess good communications skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational and team building skills.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, computer and reasoning skills.
  • Desire to know how to operate most/all extrusion and secondary processes.
  • Must have excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Must seek to understand the effects of process changes on product quality.
