Job Description

Role Summary:

NBCUniversal Advertising Sales is a ~2,000 person organization supporting approximately $10 billion of revenue across Broadcast, Cable and Digital Platforms. Ad Sales Finance supports all revenue reporting, forecasting, accounting, credit & collections, operational management of costs as well as incentive compensation design and administration for the salesforce. Primary responsibilities include oversight of close processes, balance sheet and net income controllership, corporate reporting, and accounting policies and implementation.

The Senior Accountant, Ad Sales Finance position will play a key role in the general accounting and compliance of NBCUniversal’s Ad Sales division. This role will work closely with financial and operational leadership and have exposure to all aspects of the sales organization. The New York based role will report into the Financial Controller for Ad Sales based in London.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly and quarterly close processes for Ad Sales, including analyzing balance sheet accounts, supporting accrual calculations, posting journal entries, and ensuring accounts are accurately stated
  • Review journal entries from a controllership perspective to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies
  • Reconcile and analyze movements in key balance sheet accounts, including preparation of quarterly balance sheet review packages to be reviewed with Ad Sales Finance leadership
  • Quarterly balance sheet packages and other additional close-related reporting requests for NBCU Corporate
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with NBCU Account Reconciliation Policy
  • Assist process owners in documentation of SOX controls
  • Oversee intercompany cross-charges with other NBCU group entities, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement
  • Perform reconciliations of accruals to actuals to assess methodology and recommend process improvements, identifying opportunities for simplification and standardization across the division
  • Own Robotics Process Automation (RPA) initiatives across the Ad Sales division to drive efficiency and strengthen controls
  • Conduct periodic audits of T&E and P-Card expenses to ensure policy compliance
  • Partner with finance teams across NBCU and collaborate with key operational leaders to support business objectives
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting/Big 4 experience preferred
  • Ability to manage priorities, communication, and decision making effectively when reporting to a direct manager who is based in a different office and time zone
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high standards in quality and accurate reporting
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing deadlines effectively
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently but also as part of wider team in a matrix organization

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime, and on weekends with short notice

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
