As a film production accountant, you manage the expenses associated with a film project and make sure that the production company stays within budget. Your duties include working closely with the producer to prepare schedules and budgets for filming. Your responsibilities often vary based upon the size of the production, but you typically manage cash flow, record all expenses, prepare and review weekly cost reports, and work with bank finance and completion guarantors. You oversee all expenses to ensure that production is accounted for and in compliance with the IRS. Film production accountants may work on a freelance basis or as a permanent employee of a production company.
