Job description

Summary You will serve as a MAIL & FILE CLERK in the Corporate Operations and Total Force Directorate, HQ Infrastructure and Operations Facilities of NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND. Responsibilities You will remove incoming documents from envelopes, perform initial sort, and screen and separate material into categories. You will record and control incoming and outgoing registered, certified, and insured mail, complete associated forms for return to the post office. You will open and read mail that is undesignated and determine proper routing by subject matter. You will deliver incoming and pick up outgoing mail throughout the organization. You will perform miscellaneous messenger work, such as receiving, delivering, and collecting incoming and outgoing mail or other documents or items, including correspondence, memorandum, files, records, publications, packages, and similar material. You will perform a variety of miscellaneous office clerical and light manual or mechanical tasks. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NK-01 (GS-04 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing a computer system for control and processing of incoming and outgoing mail to improve efficiency of an organization. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: 4 years above high school OR A combination of experience and education that adds up to 100% of the requirement. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
