Purpose of the Position

The Field Service Engineer will handle specialized application support issues at Vehicle Safety/Crash Customers, primarily in southeast Michigan.

Main Tasks
  • Responds to customer requests for technical applications support.
  • Provides support via phone, digital methods or on-site.
  • Support/resolve issues at Vehicle Safety customer or other applications as required.
  • Identifies and recommends special solutions for unique applications.
  • Provide “Special” solutions to unique applications and assists with customer proposals as required.
  • Assists in developing sales strategies and objectives at major accounts, when required.
  • Physical requirements: ability to sit at a desk 80% of workday; ability to use telephone 30% of workday; ability to use a computer 80% of workday.
  • Primarily local travel for customer support with occasional overnight travel required.
Requirements Profile
  • Experience applying transducers and associated electronics to measurement applications.
  • Technical knowledge of transducers, associated electronics, and standalone or embedded software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Engineering discipline from an accredited four-year institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and client communication/consulting skills.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of digital and analog signal conditioning.
  • Experience working with strain, accelerometer, angle, and displacement transducers.
  • Experience with relational databases and data analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with computer programming and macro development preferred.
  • Experience in the vehicle safety and crash testing industry preferred.
  • Understanding of measurement systems, networking, and embedded electronic systems preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and passport required
