Summary: The Automatics Service Technician will safely and successfully complete the installation or repair for all products, services, and glass along with any repair work needed to ensure the best possible service and results for our customers. Work includes installing and repairing door hardware, locks, electronics, automatic operators, and automatic sliding doors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Required to wear and use personal protective equipment per Tri City Glass amp; Door and contractor policies.
  • Read and understand work orders, shop drawings, wiring diagrams and architectural plans.
  • Diagnose issues with entrance security systems, electronic locks, and automatic operators.
  • Coordinate with Service team members to procure the necessary parts to make the repairs..
  • Install various automatic swing door operators, sliding door operators, bi-fold automatic doors, ICU doors, electronic switches, relays, and other electronic parts. Interface any fire alarm or security systems to work correctly with these types of doors.
  • Discuss and review customer orders to ensure the appropriate materials needed to complete the work order are available.
  • Fulfill work orders to satisfy customer service requirements.
  • Utilizing mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail, problem-solve installation and or any customer concerns as they come up, on both new products and existing to ensure all work is done properly.
  • Communicate with our customers onsite and/or scheduling team in the event jobs are delayed or completed early.
  • Use strong problem-solving skills to minimize waste and rework.
  • Measure, cut, and fabricate accurately while installing materials in the field to ensure top-quality, trouble-free installations.
  • Train other technicians on procedures and techniques required to troubleshoot and repair automatic entrances and security systems.
  • Maintain a neat and clean truck and work area.
  • Restock the truck as needed; replenishing any material used from stock, filling out all paperwork to maintain the truck stock.
  • Collect amount due for service performed as directed by Service Coordinator.
  • Practice safe work methods at all times, report, and respond to hazardous situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must maintain AAADM certification.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be 18 years or older of age to operate power tools.
  • Must pass a background check in order to work in correctional facilities.
  • Previous construction/residential experience, plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools, tape measures, levels, power tools, etc.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to work out of town overnight, occasionally.
