Location: Detroit, MI

Ferrous Processing and Trading, a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, has an immediate opportunity for a Yard Supervisor at one of our Detroit, MI operations. The Yard Supervisor is responsible for assisting in managing and coordinating the activities of employees and administering policies and procedures that will contribute to the site's operations running efficiently.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assign and schedule daily tasks and workloads to meet production goals.

  • Ensure all materials, equipment, and tools are available and in working order.

  • Responsible for helping keep the scrapyard, tools, and supplies organized.

  • Assist in creating production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

  • Create and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Assist in establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Maintain time and production records.

  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • Previous supervisor experience.

  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making.

  • Collaborative; builds and works with teams.

  • Ability to coach and mentor. Pre-employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.
