Position Summary

The Route Supervisor – is a support role to the Route Manager. They will oversee some off-site based routes at a satellite location. Oversee daily distribution and sales routes for our pre-packaged ice cream products. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth route operations, proper cold-chain management, strong retail execution, and excellent service to customers. They will also be responsible for covering routes when the regular drivers are not available to run them by running the route themselves. They will be responsible for delivering freezers to new customers and swapping out units at current customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise ice cream delivery and sales routes on a daily basis
  • Assist Route Manager in monitoring route staff, drivers, and helpers
  • Ensure cold-chain compliance (freezer trucks, temperature checks, handling procedures)
  • Oversee timely delivery and proper stocking of ice cream freezers at retail outlets
  • Ensure FIFO, correct product rotation, and attractive freezer merchandising
  • Monitor freezer conditions, cleanliness, and branding standards
  • Handle product returns, damages, and shortages
  • Resolve route issues, customer complaints, and service gaps
  • Track sales, stock movement, freezer placements, and route productivity
  • Prepare daily/weekly route and sales performance reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene, and food safety standards
  • Transport and unload products to retail outlets
  • Deliver, rotate, and merchandise products on shelves, displays, and cold equipment
  • Merchandise shelves, racks, equipment, and displays to company standards
  • Work in partnership with the Sales Supervisor to execute the “picture of success”
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through superior service
  • Communicate store-level issues, competitive threats, and business opportunities to leadership
  • Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays
  • Maintain organized backstock areas
  • Keep cooler, racks, and shelves clean
  • Collect breakage, out-of-date products, empty shells, and pallets
  • Ensure accurate accounting of all cases and customer transactions
  • Maintain proper care of product, equipment, and route settlement daily
  • Comply with DOT regulations for driving
  • Assist with training, coaching, and development of delivery merchandiser trainees

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class B Required in Good Standing with Clean MVR

  • Good knowledge of local market routes and retail outlets
  • Understanding of cold storage and frozen product handling
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work early hours and under temperature-sensitive conditions
  • Basic computer or mobile reporting skills
