OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fence Apprentice (Installer) to join a 2-3 person crew responsible for installing both permanent and temporary commercial fencing. This includes wood, chain link, PVC, aluminum, and other fencing types. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills in the field, with eligibility to participate in the PSG Fence Journeyman Apprenticeship Program.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Field Work

  • Install commercial fencing systems according to project specifications and safety standards
  • Prepare job sites by digging post holes, setting posts, and ensuring proper layout and alignment
  • Ensure all fencing installations are level, plumb, and securely anchored
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on installed fencing as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with crew members to complete projects on time

Communication

  • Communicate professionally with team members and clients on job sites
  • Provide clear updates and address basic questions related to installation work

Qualifications

  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (no suspensions within the past 3 years)
  • Background: Must be able to pass a background check
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of fence installation or related construction experience preferred
  • Technical Skills: Experience operating 2-3 ton trucks and towing trailers is a plus
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain work clearly and effectively
  • Physical Ability: Capable of lifting, carrying, and working in physically demanding environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands and tools for installation work
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, or in confined spaces
  • Must have adequate vision (close, distance, and focus adjustment) to perform job duties safely

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and construction environments
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and airborne particles
  • Moderate noise levels typical of construction job sites
