Customer Service Representative

Do you bring strong customer service and business office skills and want to make a difference in your community? Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a Customer Service Representative to support our Belleville, IL location. This full-time role is often the first point of contact for clients and visitors and plays a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment while supporting efficient clinic operations.

Chestnut Health Systemsâ„¢ is a leading provider of integrated health care services. Since 1973, Chestnut has grown to more than 800 committed, compassionate employees providing substance use, mental health, and primary care treatment to patients in Illinois and Missouri. We provide fully integrated care for all our patients by combining behavioral health care services with our community-based primary care health centers. Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S.A.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with two late days per month (9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

Compensation: The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is $16.00 – $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and visitors in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner that supports a safe and welcoming environment
  • Collect demographic, financial, and insurance information in person and by phone
  • Verify insurance coverage and current payer eligibility
  • Discuss payment plans, waivers, and fee agreements with patients in a clear and compassionate manner
  • Ensure electronic medical records are complete, accurate, and up to date
  • Schedule appointments and support clinic flow and access to services
  • Operate standard office equipment and support front office operations
  • Promote recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles, including hope, respect, empowerment, wellness, and connectedness
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client and organizational information
  • Provide additional administrative and customer service support as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service and telephone communication skills
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and use of office equipment
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic keyboarding skills and experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to commute between locations as required
  • Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and insurability
