• What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will work with internal and external partners to deliver National Flood Insurance Program implementation guidance for Region 8. Works under the guidance of a Senior Specialist in floodplain management with a focus on technical assistance, capacity building and program compliance. Typical Duties may include: Reviewing state floodplain management model ordinances and local ordinances for NFIP minimum standard compliance. Providing technical assistance to members of the public, engineers and local officials on property specific program minimum standards and submittal of documentation for map revisions. Traveling with internal colleagues to deliver training, communicate the impacts of new maps or support flood disaster recovery efforts. What else do I need to know? Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
