THE POSITION
As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Corrections, you will be part of a supportive group that keeps the facility running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides key clerical support that keeps daily functions organized and efficient. The role involves communication, document preparation, and coordination across multiple departments. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
  • Call Management: Handle incoming calls and route them to the correct staff
  • Document Preparation: Type memos, reports, correspondence, and transcriptions with accuracy
  • Data Entry: Enter and update information in mainframe systems, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Meeting Support: Take minutes during meetings and prepare them for distribution
  • Policy Processing: Type, organize, and maintain printed policies, procedures, and other materials
  • Supply Coordination: Order office supplies and process system entries as directed

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
