Job Description

The Five Star Institute is seeking a motivated, success-oriented sales professional.  The Business Development Manager will be responsible for prospecting, scheduling and closing business for the Five Star Institute and its related brands.  The successful candidate will be dedicated to identifying and closing new business and fostering growth from existing business.


Responsibilities


  • Identify new business opportunities in the mortgage banking and default servicing space

  • Cultivate new B2B relationships through the sale of ads, memberships and conference sponsorships

  • Develop and pitch customized proposals and opportunities, taking a consultative, relationship building sales approach to help clients and agencies make informed decisions

  • Utilize research, analytics and expertise to develop creative solutions and advertising strategies

  • Anticipate customer needs and requirements and provide outstanding client service

  • Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teammates to ensure obligations to customers are delivered in a consistent, quality fashion and client expectations are exceeded

  • Contribute to new strategies and tactics as the business evolves and additional revenue opportunities are implemented

  • Maintain a pulse on the mortgage banking and distressed asset servicing industries and represent the Company at regional events and meetings

Required Skills


  • Strong sales fundamentals, including prospecting, pitching, presenting and closing deals with values up to $1 million

  • Proven relationship-building skills

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills, with ability to adapt and influence customers and teammates

  • Ability to hit the ground running and close deals quickly, ideally with solid relationships already in place

  • Proven track record of translating marketing and promotional objectives into outstanding results for clients

  • Solid experience with contract negotiation

  • History of exceeding sales targets and proven earning capabilities in a base salary plus commission comp structure

  • Previous mortgage banking and distressed asset servicing industry experience is preferred.
