Job description

The Business Insurance Associate supports the agency’s commercial lines growth by helping local business owners understand their coverage needs and connecting them with tailored insurance solutions. This role blends sales, client relationship management, and underwriting support. The associate will prospect, quote, and onboard new commercial clients while assisting with renewals, policy changes, and service requests.


This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with small business owners, has strong communication skills, and is motivated by building long‑term professional relationships. The role is on‑site in Colorado Springs and offers long‑term career growth within the agency.

Responsibilities

Sales Business Development


  • Prospect and engage local business owners through outbound calls, networking, referrals, and community involvement.


  • Identify coverage needs and present appropriate commercial insurance solutions.


  • Prepare and deliver quotes for BOP, commercial auto, workers’ comp, general liability, and other lines.


  • Manage follow‑ups, pipeline activity, and onboarding of new commercial clients.


Client Service Support


  • Assist clients with policy changes, billing questions, certificates of insurance, and claims coordination.


  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation within agency systems.


  • Support renewal reviews by identifying coverage gaps, rate changes, and cross‑sell opportunities.


  • Provide responsive, professional service that strengthens client retention.


Operational Administrative


  • Work closely with the agency owner to prioritize leads, manage workflows, and support commercial marketing efforts.


  • Ensure applications, underwriting documents, and required forms are completed accurately.


  • Maintain compliance with Farmers Insurance standards, state regulations, and agency procedures.
Requirements

Required:


  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain coverage clearly and professionally.

Licensing:


  • Active Property Casualty license required (or willingness to obtain — agency support available).
