Job Summary


The Facility Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership, operational management, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth of the Emergency Room facility. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered emergency care while maintaining operational efficiency and regulatory standards.


The Administrator works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing (DON), Medical Director, and department leaders to ensure clinical excellence and operational effectiveness.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the ER facility to ensure efficient and effective delivery service.
  • Ensure operational readiness 24/7 and compliance with emergency standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to support patient flow, staffing, and quality outcomes.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.

Financial Management

  • Manage facility budget, revenue cycle oversight, and expense control.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability.
  • Oversee vendor contracts and cost containment initiatives.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain readiness for accreditation and regulatory surveys.
  • Oversee risk management, patient safety, and quality improvement programs.

Human Resources & Leadership

  • Provide leadership and supervision to department managers.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels in collaboration with clinical leadership.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

Quality & Patient Experience

  • Monitor quality metrics and patient satisfaction scores.

Requirements:

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Masterโ€™s degree (MHA, MBA, or related) preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration.
  • Experience in Emergency Room, acute care, hospital, or freestanding ER setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial oversight.

Licensure/Certification

  • Healthcare administration certification preferred (e.g., FACHE โ€“ preferred but not required).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of emergency healthcare operations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
