How much do eye tracking jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 24, 2026, the average yearly pay for eye tracking in the United States is $124,213.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $98,000.00 and $146,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in Eye Tracking research or analysis roles?

Professionals in Eye Tracking roles often face challenges such as ensuring accurate calibration of equipment for diverse participant groups, managing large and complex datasets, and interpreting subtle gaze patterns in meaningful ways. Additionally, they must stay up-to-date with rapidly evolving technology and software used for data collection and analysis. Collaborating closely with UX designers, engineers, and researchers is common, and effectively communicating insights is key to driving actionable outcomes. These challenges make the role dynamic and require adaptability, continuous learning, and strong problem-solving skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Eye Tracking position, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Eye Tracking role, candidates typically need expertise in experimental psychology, human-computer interaction, or cognitive science, often supported by a relevant bachelor's or master's degree. Familiarity with eye-tracking hardware (such as Tobii, SMI, or EyeLink), data analysis software, and statistical tools like SPSS or MATLAB is essential. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines are highly valued soft skills. These competencies are crucial for designing, conducting, and interpreting eye-tracking studies that inform product development and user experience improvements.

What is an Eye Tracking job?

An Eye Tracking job involves using specialized technology to monitor and analyze eye movements, often to study user behavior, improve product design, or assess cognitive functions. Professionals in this field work in areas like UX research, psychology, marketing, and healthcare. They use eye-tracking hardware and software to gather insights on where and how people look at screens, products, or environments. This data helps businesses and researchers optimize designs, improve accessibility, and enhance user experiences.
