Job description

TITLE: Press Operator - Level 1 (Extrusion Technician B)

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Extrusion Technician role is to manufacture extruded products and ensure production standards are met relating to safety, quality, outputs and cost are met.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of personnel.
  • Basic math skills and some mechanical abilities.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary, such as overtime, weekends and travel.
  • Capable of lifting, pulling and pushing up to 50 pounds of various sizes and shapes.
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time and climbing ladders or other equipment for cleaning.
  • Capable of effectively managing job related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing finished products.
  • Trimming access flash and removal of sprues from plastic.
  • Assemble and packaging.
  • Proper use of hand tools
  • Record keeping for accurate production; including counts, defective parts, quantity produced, downtime and uptime,
  • Keeping work area clean, organized and free from clutter.
  • Basic understanding of types of plastics.
  • Assistance in training new employees.
  • All other duties assigned.

 

TRAINING:

  • Each employee will work with Shift Trainer for on-the-job training

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

  • Hand tools to include – snap blade, rasper, clippers, putty knife, swivel knife
  • High Pressure and Structural Foam Presses

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Must be able to stand for 12 hours a day
  • Able to lift, bend, push, pull and reach up to 50 pounds throughout shift

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Inspect and classify rejected and approved parts.
