Title: Extrusion Technician
Reports to: Production Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
Department: Production
Direct Reports: None
Summary:
An Extrusion Technician is responsible for performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with a production line. This includes housekeeping, safety, quality, maintaining production efficiencies, repair and maintenance and minimizing downtime.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
  • Completion of shift production and reporting paperwork
  • Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Production Supervisor
  • Meet quality specifications for all products produced
  • Preform Preventive Maintenance on all equipment as needed
  • Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems and perform repairs and adjustments to meet production needs as required
  • Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain ability to operate various production lines and processes effectively
  • Maintain facility housekeeping
  • Adhere to PLP product sampling schedule
  • Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
  • Meet or exceed standard production efficiencies on all production lines
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, certification requirements
  • Perform tooling changeovers in an efficient manner
  • Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, desired
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Punctual with good attendance
  • Previous manufacturing machine operation or extrusion experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion, such as: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, griping, and standing
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 12 continuous hours
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes
  • Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast repetitious operation
