Job description

Job Summary:
FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is building a team to administer and maintain the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's Academic Network. The Network Engineer V will serve as the Government's senior network architect, optimizing network performance and ensuring reliable services for educational operations.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as Senior Network Architect for network design and infrastructure updates
• Act as Project Manager for high-priority network projects using Extreme devices
• Perform tuning, optimization, and proactive maintenance of Extreme Network equipment
• Serve as onsite contact for support and product escalations with Extreme Networks
• Conduct network assessments, traffic analysis, and capacity planning for future growth
• Design network topology to streamline data flow, reduce latency, enhance scalability, and ensure redundancy
• Develop software release planning and documentation
• Provide knowledge transfer and technical training to IT staff on network infrastructure
• May be required to travel (CONUS/OCONUS)
Qualifications:
Required:
• BA/BS from accredited college/university with minimum 5 years experience OR AA/AS with minimum 7 years experience OR 9+ years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions
• Requires one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP
• CCNA Certification or equivalent
• Combination of experience with: VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2), Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points, Palo Alto Networks Firewall (PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering), Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, Cisco Networks switches and routers, Aruba Networks Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass, Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System, Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches / Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS, SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends
