Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze assigned international trade activities and ensure trade activities comply with local and international trade requirements
  • Participate in root cause analysis of international trade issues, recommend solutions to help implement corrective actions
  • Identify and research trade activities with special compliance requirements such as licenses, permits or other government approvals.
  • Coordinate or obtain required documents or approvals and ensure conditions are met
  • Participate in international trade related projects, analyze requirements, provide advice, set up new trade processes, write procedures and monitor results
  • Use business ERP and other database to research and analyze trade data
  • Develop and provide trade compliance training

Project description: Global Trade is a division of Applied Materials which continuously supports all the activities of Import & Export of products and services. Due to the policies and restrictions in different regions and counties, global trade team continuously monitors all the imports and exports. Global Trade team is involved in generating the US & other country HTS and ECCN codes required during the shipment of spare parts and a complete production tool. The activities of the team involve part classification based on their technical functionality.

Roles and Responsibility
  • Perform Customs Trade HTS & ECCN Classification determinations of Applied Materials systems, spare parts, and other products for import and export
  • Audit HTS classifications and maintain company's master classification database & SAP/GTS for US and other different countries
  • Assist with regional Customs Audits, compliance program reviews & update procedures as pertinent to drive continues improvement
  • Assist in compliance data collection and record keeping
  • Support compliance training and audit activities
  • Generate and analyze compliance reports
  • Participate in root cause analysis of international trade issues, recommend solutions to help implement corrective actions
  • Supporting Customs inquiries related to classifications of products
  • Other Projects as assigned by trade management
Ideal Candidate

Knowledge of advanced technology & process involved in Semiconductor, Flat Panel, Solar cell manufacturing (SEMI, Nanomanufacturing). Knowledge of import and/or export trade compliance elements, e.g., Harmonized Tariff Schedules, Export Classification Commodity Numbers, Customs entry process, Customs invoicing requirements, special trade program requirements, etc. Able to demonstrate the ability to conduct classification analysis to arrive at an accurate HTS and ECCN Classification, by using various trade tools such as GRIs, CROSS rulings, WCO explanatory notes, and Export Regulations & other Classification Tools

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years’ experience in U.S. HTS & ECCN Classification
  • Degree- in Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial Production, Aeronautical engineering
  • An understanding of other jurisdictions HTS & ECCN classifications
  • Mechanical/ Industrial Production experience, Knowledge of GD & T, Drawing reading
  • Strong Microsoft Suite Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Strong data analysis and administrative skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks and projects, track action items and ensure closure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with international trade, export or import terminology (preferred)
Additional Qualifications
  • SAP GTS experience is a plus
  • Experience with TeamCenter, Unigraphics & other CAD software

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
