The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Expense Auditor to join our Accounting team and play a key role in identifying cost-saving opportunities across the firm. This position will analyze expenses, review vendor agreements, and audit internal spending to uncover unnecessary costs and inefficiencies. The Expense Auditor will regularly prepare reports and present findings and recommendations directly to C-Suite and senior leadership, helping guide strategic financial decisions and operational improvements.
Accountable for
  • Analyze large datasets to audit expenses, identify anomalies, and uncover cost-saving opportunities
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial reports and dashboards for senior leadership
  • Conduct forensic-style analysis to detect inefficiencies, inconsistencies, and potential risk areas
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to recommend and implement process improvements
  • Build and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for expense auditing and reporting workflows
  • Create scalable data models and reporting frameworks to support ongoing financial oversight
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications:
  • Previous accounting experience in a law firm is required
  • Strong background in data analysis, particularly working with large datasets
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data modeling)
  • Experience building Power BI dashboards and visual reports
  • Proven ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Experience creating and implementing SOPs and process documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset
  • Experience in forensic accounting or investigative financial analysis
  • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) or similar certification is a strong plus
  • Background in high-volume, data-driven environments (e.g., legal, insurance, or professional services)

Compensation
