Job description

This position requires full relocation to Saudi Arabia. It is a permanent full time Expat position with an attractive relocation package. Please note only qualified candidates will be contacted.

Overview:

We are seeking a Power Service Technician to join our Power Operations Departments. Power Operation Departments deliver electrical energy to customers in the safest, most reliable and economical manner through a competent workforce committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. Your primary role is to do installations or diagnosis and repair on all types of electrical systems and support in commissioning, fault diagnosis, testing, repairing, preventive maintenance and routine maintenance on transformers, large circuit breakers and ancillary equipment for substations, switching stations, power plants and large motor controls and underground power cable including fault locating. Frequently provides work direction to lower-classified Power Services Unit personnel.


Key Responsibilities:

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, installation, commissioning, testing, repairs and troubleshooting on equipment including 480 voltages through 230 kilo volts switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, reclosers, cooling fans, and substation systems.
  • Use various testing equipment like transformer turns ration, insulation resistance, and dielectric testers. Installs and maintains high voltage cables (e.g., solid dielectric, paper insulated lead covered (PILCA) cables, low pressure oil filled (LPOF) cables, and submarine cables and testing of high-pressure oil filled (HPOF) cables) and performs splicing, terminations, and testing. Repairs electrical and mechanical components of oil circuit breakers, including compressors, pumps, springs, and linkages.
  • Performs commissioning tests on new equipment, recommends final acceptance by Power Distribution Department and lists exception items, if any.
  • Performs high-skilled diagnostic tasks, as required.
  • Diagnose and locate equipment, system, and cable faults through tests and analysis, determining necessary repairs and parts. Install, repairs, and maintains specialized power distribution equipment, including line wash equipment, lifts & digger-derricks.
  • Supervise cable excavation, ensure de-energization and safety grounding, and oversees cable laying for high and medium voltage cables.
  • Performs potential testing, High-Potential testing on Power Cables.
  • Revises existing equipment and systems to conform to verbal instructions, revised drawings, and work orders; then makes operational test runs for satisfactory repair and acceptance.
  • Coordinates and schedules power outages with affected organizations as required to perform routine maintenance or make repairs on power distribution facilities.
  • Acquires clearances, performs switching, receives work permits, and restores equipment to service; when such activities are required to perform work in a timely manner.


Minimum Requirements:

As the successful candidate, you will need to have the following:

  • Diploma/industrial degree in electrical field. B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation with emphasis on transmission and distribution.
  • Preferably Certified for Basic Life Support/FA, Fire Protection, Work Permit Receiver, cable splicing & potential test.
  • Fluent command of the English language, oral and written.
  • Has thorough knowledge of equipment and underground cable safety requirements including U.S. & Saudi Electrical Codes.
  • Ability to read work orders, work permits, vendors’ manuals, and schematic diagrams and to communicate with fellow workers on technical aspects of the job.
  • Good knowledge of Safety Management System.
