JOB TITLE:ย Community Programs Managerย 

REPORTS TO:ย Associate Director of Engagementย 

FLSA STATUS:ย Full-Time.ย Salary, Exemptย 

COMPENSATION RATE:ย $48,000ย โ€“ 50,000 annuallyย ย 

LOCATION:ย 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601 (Hybridย Eligible)ย 

POSITION SUMMARY:ย The Community Programs Manager leads the implementation,ย developmentย and strategic growth of key community learning programs withinย Goodmanย Theatreโ€™s Education and Engagement department.ย They oversee program planning and administration, curriculum development,ย Teachingย Artist management, participant engagement and program evaluation whileย identifyingย opportunities for continued growth and expansion. This positionย also supports initiatives across the broader Education and Engagement portfolio, collaborating with colleagues,ย Teachingย Artistsย and community partners to deliver high-quality,ย accessibleย and engaging arts learning experiences. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for using the arts to build community and cultivate joy, a thoughtful systems thinker with strong organizational skills and an effective collaborator who builds meaningful relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Lead the planning,ย implementationย and strategic growth ofย GeNarrations, The Goodmanโ€™s storytelling and playwriting program for adults ages 55+, including classes, workshops,ย showcasesย and programming at community partner sites across Chicago.ย ย 

  • Develop and maintainย GeNarrationsย curriculum and program resources.ย ย 

  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, manage and support theย GeNarrationsย Teaching Artist cohort.ย ย 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact forย GeNarrationsย participants and community partners.ย ย 

  • Lead the planning, curation,ย implementationย and strategic growth of the Goodmanโ€™sย ACTivationย workshop series.ย 

  • Develop an annual calendar of adult focused arts learning opportunities aligned with Goodman productions, departmentalย prioritiesย and audience interests.ย ย 

  • Identify, recruit, manage and supportย ACTivationย Teaching Artists and facilitators.ย ย 

  • Manage the administration andย logisticsย of assigned programs,ย ย 

  • program budgets, collect and assess program data, evaluate programย impactย andย identifyย opportunities for new partnerships, program models,ย audiencesย and continued growthย in collaboration with departmental leadership.ย ย 

  • Promote programs, coordinate resources and support department-wide initiatives, events, specialย projectsย andย additionalย community engagement programming as needed.ย ย 

  • Other duties as assigned.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:ย ย 

  • 3-5 years ofย demonstratedย experience in arts education, community engagement, artsย administrationย or a similarly relevant field.ย 

  • Demonstrated ability to plan,ย implementย and evaluate community-based arts learning programs andย identifyย opportunities for program development and strategic growth.ย ย 

  • Experience developing or supporting arts learning curricula and managing,ย coachingย and supportingย Teachingย Artists,ย facilitatorsย or other contracted artists.ย ย 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills withย demonstratedย ability to build andย maintainย meaningful relationships with participants, artists, community partners and colleagues across diverse communities and generations.ย ย 

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously, collaborate across departments, meetย deadlinesย and set and manage priorities.ย ย 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituencies.ย ย 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite,ย Tessituraย and web-based applications and databases.ย Tessitura experience preferred but notย required.ย Experience with program evaluation and data collection is preferred.ย
