Job description

About the job
Company Description Great Lakes Roofing & Construction is a commercial roofing contractor headquartered in the Chicagoland area, serving clients across the Midwest and in more than 16 states. The company specializes in flat and metal roofing systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily properties. Services include new construction, complex reroof projects, repairs, restorations, and long-term maintenance programs that protect and extend the life of roofing assets. While the company's roots are local, its capabilities scale nationally, partnering with building owners, property managers, and general contractors who require disciplined execution and technical expertise. Great Lakes Roofing & Construction is focused on delivering roofing systems that perform reliably and add long-term value for customers.
Role Description This full-time Commercial Roofing Sales Executive role is a hybrid position based in the Greater Chicago Area, with a combination of in-person client visits, office time, and some work from home. The Commercial Roofing Sales Executive will identify and pursue new business opportunities, qualify leads, and build relationships with building owners, property managers, and general contractors. Responsibilities include conducting site visits and roof inspections, collaborating with internal technical teams to develop solutions, preparing proposals and estimates, and presenting roofing options that align with customer needs and budgets. The role will also involve managing a sales pipeline, tracking activity in a CRM system, and following up consistently to move opportunities through the sales cycle. In addition, the Sales Executive will stay informed about roofing products, industry trends, and competitor offerings to provide informed guidance and maintain a consultative sales
approach.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in B2B sales, preferably in commercial roofing, construction, building materials, or a related field.
  • Strong skills in prospecting, lead qualification, relationship building, and account management.
  • Ability to conduct site visits, understand basic roof system components, and collaborate with technical and project teams.
  • Solid communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in clear, client-friendly language.
  • Comfort using CRM software and basic productivity tools to manage a sales pipeline and document activities.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Greater Chicago Area and the broader Midwest region as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client and jobsite visits.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with commercial roofing systems, building envelopes, or facilities management is a strong plus.
