Job description

Our client, a global organization in commercial explosives and blasting technology with operations across multiple continents, is seeking a Senior Manager, Risk and Insurance to join its Salt Lake City headquarters.

The Role

This is a newly established corporate role reporting to the VP of Global Risk and Insurance. Based in Salt Lake City and working closely with the Americas leadership team, the Senior Manager will oversee enterprise risk management across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The role will also contribute to the broader global risk program through collaboration with corporate teams outside the region.

Responsibilities

  • Support loss scenario planning and exposure analysis to guide risk mitigation strategies and insurance-related decisions.
  • Build strong working relationships with Americas leadership and act as a key link between the global corporate function and regional stakeholders.
  • Identify and monitor critical controls linked to material operational hazards in a high-risk industrial setting.
  • Apply ISO 31000 methodology across key business areas, including operations, supply chain, finance, legal, and HR.
  • Support the global insurance program by liaising with U.S. brokers and insurers and assisting with exposure analysis.
  • Develop and maintain risk registers, risk dashboards, and senior leadership reporting for governance forums.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and manage risk registers, dashboards, and reporting for senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise risk management or operational risk within complex industrial environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or risk management, with technical degrees preferred.
  • Background in nuclear, oil and gas, or mining sectors.
  • RIMS-CRMP, IRM, or PMI-RMP certification.
  • Ability to travel to U.S., Canadian, and Mexican sites, with an annual trip to Brisbane.
  • Hands-on experience applying ISO 31000 or comparable ERM frameworks across multiple business functions.
  • Spanish language skills would be advantageous.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively within a multicultural, matrixed organization.

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office per week required.
