Founding Account Executive - Simulation AI Agent

Clera

San Francisco, CA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

About the Role
We're a well-funded, early-stage AI software company building intelligent agents for hardware engineers - automating complex workflows across simulation, CAD, and product lifecycle management. We're looking for a Founding Account Executive to own and build our new-logo sales motion from the ground up.
This is a high-ownership, high-impact role. You'll be the first dedicated seller, working directly alongside founders to convert warm opportunities, generate your own pipeline, run full-cycle technical deals, and write the playbook that future reps will inherit. If you thrive in ambiguity, love engineering context, and are energized by building something from scratch, this role was designed for you.
What You'll Do
  • Own the full sales cycle - from outbound prospecting through close - for net-new enterprise accounts.
  • Convert founder-sourced warm opportunities and inbound interest into closed deals while independently building new pipeline.
  • Demo our simulation AI agent solo and design technical evaluations that validate value within customer models and workflows.
  • Navigate complex buying committees, aligning CAE/simulation champions with VP- and Director-level economic buyers.
  • Run targeted account plans against organizations currently using tools such as ANSYS, SIMULIA, Altair, or Simcenter.
  • Build the qualification criteria, discovery frameworks, evaluation templates, and objection-handling guides that form the company's GTM playbook.
  • Feed deal learnings back to the product team to sharpen the agent and future sales motions.
  • Create repeatable processes and documentation that future sales hires will execute against.
What We're Looking For
Dealbreakers (must-haves):
  • 6+ years of full-cycle hunting in complex, technical B2B sales into engineering or manufacturing organizations - with a verifiable track record of sourcing and closing net-new logos against quota.
  • Proven ability to run unaided software demos and real technical evaluations with engineering teams (no reliance on an SE in the room).
  • Genuine fluency with AI agents and LLMs; ability to articulate concrete engineering value and the practical constraints of agentic workflows in CAE/simulation environments.

Required:
  • Experience owning the full sales motion - outbound, discovery, technical evaluation, procurement navigation, and close - without relying on pre-generated pipeline.
  • Demonstrated success selling to CAE/simulation stakeholders and building bridges to engineering managers, VP/Directors of Engineering in enterprise settings.
  • Comfort navigating multi-stakeholder procurement processes in large engineering organizations.
  • Experience building and executing a GTM playbook as a founding or early-stage sales hire.

Nice to Have:
  • Direct familiarity with CAE/simulation ecosystems (e.g., ANSYS, SIMULIA, Altair, Siemens Star-CCM+/Simcenter) as a vendor rep, reseller, or competitor.
  • Background in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline - or strong domain language to hold technical conversations with engineers.
  • Prior founding or early sales hire experience; history of building a sales motion from zero.
  • Background selling CAD/CAE/PLM/EDA or adjacent deep-tech (dev tools, MLOps, infrastructure) into large enterprises.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation details are available upon request and will be discussed during the interview process. Early employees receive meaningful equity participation commensurate with the founding-hire nature of the role.
Location
  • Location: San Francisco, CA, USA (on-site)
