The Simulation Clinical Operation Specialist performs the clinical operations of the simulation program at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing, paramedic, engineering, or other related field.
  • Experience

  • 3 years working in an adult care setting
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire
Preferred
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in healthcare related field with previous experience in education working with the adult learners.

JOB DUTIES
  • Interacts with multiple disciplines to create trusting relationships across the healthcare industry.
  • Provides leadership in simulation operations and learning objectives.
  • Develops, implements, delivers, and provides sustainment of various immersive multi-disciplinary learning opportunities and programming.
  • Aids in the prospectively error proofing our healthcare system through the in-situ simulation; identifying latent safety threats, assisting in the remedy of gaps/near misses related to crisis resource management knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified by the institutional Code Blue Committee, Process Improvement Committee(s), Regulatory and Safety Committee(s), and executive leadership.
  • Supports the state-of-the-art educational and research missions of the institution.
  • In conjunction with Sr. Simulation Operations Specialist, develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing educational programs that are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals.
  • In conjunction with Sr. Simulation Operations Specialist as well as unit faculty and staff, assists in the development of scenarios in simulation for the teaching of learners.
  • Assists with teaching and debriefing of simulation sessions.
  • Creates and delivers presentations regarding simulation.
  • Develops evidence-based educational materials and adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of simulation program using a variety of assessments tools.
  • Evaluates patient environments, equipment and education gaps during simulations to identify safety threats and provides feedback to supervisors and managers for improvement.
  • Assists in the design of education based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and UT Southwestern Medical Center policy.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of mutual respect and professionalism, and ensures learner and staff confidentiality within the program.
  • Supports team simulation research projects and utilizes current research findings in simulation to promote best practices in simulation design and operations.
  • Supports and promotes simulation use across campus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
