Job description

Fortive is seeking a highly capable Executive Assistant to support the Vice President of Corporate Development in a high-impact partnering role. This position goes beyond traditional administrative support and is designed for someone who takes ownership of how a senior executive operates day-to-day. You will manage priorities, shape the flow of meetings and communications, and bring discipline to the rhythm of business for Corporate Development-enabling strategic growth initiatives, acquisition execution, portfolio management, and executive decision-making.

Working in alignment with Fortive's focus on clear priorities and strong execution, you will anticipate needs, apply exceptional judgment, and help ensure the VP of Corporate Development remains focused on the initiatives that create the greatest value for the company. You will support a fast-paced environment that includes M&A pipeline reviews, acquisition diligence, executive operating reviews, Board preparation, integration planning, and interactions with senior leaders, bankers, advisors, and acquisition targets.

This role is ideal for an Executive Assistant who wants to be trusted as an operating partner, exercise sound judgment daily, and drive enterprise-level impact through exceptional execution.

Executive Partnership & Rhythm of Business

  • Proactively triage inbox and communications, drafting and sending messages on behalf of the VP of Corporate Development as appropriate.
  • Prepare the VP for meetings by assembling agendas, participant context, transaction materials, diligence updates, and executive briefing documents.
  • Manage complex scheduling across global time zones, external advisors, investment bankers, acquisition targets, and executive stakeholders.
  • Enforce scheduling priorities, protect strategic focus time, and create space for critical business development and transaction activities.
  • Prepare daily agendas, decision packets, executive briefing materials, and Board-related content while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Own the Corporate Development Rhythm of Business (ROB), including deal pipeline reviews, leadership team meetings, weekly priorities, operating reviews, integration updates, quarterly business reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Draft, review, and finalize agendas and pre-reads; capture key decisions, maintain action logs, and drive follow-through across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Insert preparation time and transition buffers between meetings while managing competing priorities and urgent transaction-related requests.
  • Coordinate logistics for high-profile meetings, including acquisition reviews, executive leadership discussions, Board preparation sessions, banker meetings, and leadership offsites.
  • Thrive in ambiguity, adapting quickly to changing priorities and evolving transaction timelines.
  • Build effective relationships across the organization, including executives, Board members, advisors, external partners, and acquisition targets.
  • Handle highly confidential and market-sensitive information with exceptional discretion and professionalism.

Travel, Expenses & Operational Support

  • Plan and monitor complex domestic and international travel, proactively addressing disruptions and ensuring itinerary effectiveness.
  • Coordinate travel related to acquisitions, diligence activities, integration planning, leadership meetings, and industry conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with Fortive Global Travel and Expense policies, including visa coordination, approvals, and executive travel support.
  • Review and process expense reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Strategy, Procurement, and Corporate Development team members on contracts, purchase orders, vendor engagement, and budget tracking.
  • Maintain critical dashboards, trackers, templates, and standard work related to deal pipelines, diligence activities, integration planning, action items, and leadership reporting.
  • Support preparation and organization of Board materials, investor-related presentations, transaction documentation, and executive communications.

Decision Rights

  • Calendar trade-offs and priority decisions on behalf of the VP of Corporate Development, including transaction-related escalations and urgent stakeholder requests.
  • Drafting and sending executive communications within defined categories, including meeting coordination, follow-ups, scheduling decisions, and approved communications.
  • P-card spending and routine vendor selection within established guidelines.
  • Travel coordination, meeting prioritization, and operational decisions necessary to optimize executive effectiveness and execution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting senior executives in a fast-paced, complex business environment; experience supporting Corporate Development, Strategy, Finance, CFO, or CEO organizations strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience supporting Board materials and executive reporting preferred.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to operate effectively with incomplete information in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing confidential business information, including acquisitions, strategic initiatives, and executive-level communications.
  • Exceptional project management, prioritization, and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
  • High level of AI fluency for drafting, synthesis, summarization, and executive readiness support (e.g., meeting briefs, transaction summaries, action logs, and executive presentations).
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, influence without authority, and serve as a trusted business partner to senior leaders.
  • Comfortable operating in environments characterized by shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and significant cross-functional collaboration.
