Job description

Job Summary

The Executive Director Revenue Cycle Operations leads the end-to-end financial clearance and billing functions. This position is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and management of all revenue cycle processes—from patient access and clinical coding to collections and denial management. The goal of the Executive Director Revenue Cycle Operations is to maximize net patient service revenue while ensuring a seamless, patient-centric financial experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year revenue cycle roadmap that aligns with the organization’s financial goals and growth. Identify, implement, and evaluate Revenue Cycle strategies that create efficiencies to maximize Revenue Cycle performance.
  • Monitor and optimize key metrics, including Days in AR (DAR), Net Collection Rate, Denial Rates, and Cost-to-Collect.
  • Oversee departmental leaders in Patient Access, HIM/Coding, Billing, and Follow-up to ensure workflow efficiency and data integrity.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships and performance for third-party collection agencies, eligibility vendors, and coding partners.
  • Evaluate and implement automated solutions (AI/RPA) and EHR enhancements (Epic) to reduce manual intervention.
  • Maintain strict adherence to CMS, HIPAA, and OIG regulations, ensuring all billing practices are ethically and legally sound.
  • Develop employees through appropriate management practices, create a hospital climate to motivate employees to highest performance. Establish direction, coach employees, provide feedback, and build commitment.
  • Oversee maintenance of data and reporting costs to third party payors for appropriate reimbursement of incurred costs in providing patient care services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Finance, or Business
  • Preferred: Master’s/MBA/MHA

Experience Requirements

Minimum:

  • Ten (10) years of progressive leadership in healthcare revenue cycle management within a Hospital / Physician Group / Health System] environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Epic Resolute and data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI)

License/Certification Requirements

  • Minimum: None
  • Preferred: CHFP, CRCE, or FACHE
