What is EveryAction and what do people working in EveryAction roles do?

EveryAction is a software platform widely used by nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and political campaigns for donor management, fundraising, email marketing, and organizing efforts. People working in EveryAction roles typically help organizations set up, manage, and optimize their use of the platform to better engage supporters, track data, and achieve their mission-driven goals. Common responsibilities include database administration, training staff, creating reports, and integrating EveryAction with other tools. These roles may also involve troubleshooting, ensuring data integrity, and supporting campaign or fundraising strategies.

What is the difference between Everyaction vs Fundraising Coordinator?

Everyaction is a digital platform used for managing campaigns, donor data, and online engagement, while a Fundraising Coordinator focuses on executing fundraising strategies and donor relations. Both roles often work within nonprofit settings but differ in scope: Everyaction is a tool, whereas a Fundraising Coordinator is a role that may utilize such tools to achieve fundraising goals.

What are some common challenges faced by EveryAction administrators when managing large-scale campaigns?

EveryAction administrators often manage complex data sets and coordinate with multiple stakeholders across campaigns, which can present challenges such as ensuring data accuracy, maintaining clean records, and integrating with other digital tools. Balancing customization of workflows for different teams while keeping the system user-friendly can also be demanding. Staying current with updates to the platform and training new users are additional ongoing responsibilities, but these challenges help build strong problem-solving and project management skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EveryAction Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EveryAction Specialist, you need strong data management skills, experience with CRM platforms (especially EveryAction), and a background in nonprofit operations or fundraising. Familiarity with tools like EveryAction CRM, Excel, and basic reporting or data visualization software is typically required, along with relevant certifications in database management or nonprofit technology. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail help you support teams and ensure accurate data handling. These skills are crucial for maximizing donor engagement, streamlining operations, and supporting successful fundraising campaigns within nonprofit organizations.

Job description

Interested in joining Blue State's Tech team? Submit an application so you can be considered when a role becomes available. Please note: this is an "evergreen" job post (i.e. not an active job post), but your expression of interest matters to us. While interviews aren't ongoing, we're excited to connect with talented individuals who share our commitment to Blue State's mission.

If you came across this job via LinkedIn, please note that it is an evergreen role; LinkedIn does not differentiate, but we prefer to.

What to know

Mobilize action for the causes that count. In this role, you'll ideate, write and execute impactful and creative digital fundraising and mobilization campaigns for a range of 3-5 clients. Campaigns range from advocacy to fundraising, campaigns to customer engagement work, for a variety of clients including major nonprofit and advocacy organizations.

The bulk of our digital practice is concentrated on email, but paid media, SMS, and direct mail are increasing areas of focus.

The company

Blue State is a purpose-driven agency. We partner with leading causes, brands, and campaigns and create real change. From Google and UNICEF to Amnesty International and Oxfam, we transform how brands and causes raise money, influence policy, build platforms, and grow communities of supporters. Led by the most creative and analytical minds from the political, nonprofit, and brand worlds, Blue State is an independent agency and has 150+ employees in the US and London.

The team

This role will sit within our Content and Campaigns team, a team made up of talented digital fundraisers and advocacy experts. Our resumes boast diverse backgrounds in advertising, political campaigns, journalism, nonprofit marketing and much more. Writing great copy is at the heart of what we do, but we are so much more than copywriters -- we develop campaign strategies, brainstorm creative, develop testing plans, collaborate with designers and are never above a terrible pun. In short, we have a lot of fun while helping our clients change the world.

A day in the life
  • Develop cross-channel digital campaigns (everything from concepts to calendars to copy) that mobilize audiences to donate, advocate, engage and more.
  • Write succinct and persuasive copy for email, paid media, and related channels.
  • Work closely with analysts, strategists and paid media planners to develop A/B tests and optimize campaigns.
  • Collaborate with designers to bring ideas to life through beautiful graphics and copy.
  • Collaborate with email producers working on platforms like EveryAction to target key audiences and innovate new tactics for converting donors.
  • Manage rapid response moments.
  • As part of a team, pitch concepts and present plans to client stakeholders.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the social, political and economic issues that impact your clients as well as continual education within your discipline.
  • Stay aware of the latest digital campaign trends, and develop a POV on how/whether our clients should take advantage of them to push their programs forward.
  • Advance knowledge and professional development across the Content and Campaigns team by attending conferences and workshops, and contributing to team meetings.

We approach in-office working with a hybrid model. On-site presence is welcome for US staff who are within commuting distance of the NY or DC office. Managers retain discretion to require in-person attendance for folks on their discipline or client teams as necessary, including for those whose roles require them to be in person.

The salary range for this position is $65-$85 per hour; compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Some things we're looking for
  1. 3+ years experience in digital fundraising, advocacy, product growth or similar
  2. A passion for progressive causes
  3. A desire to take ownership and lead projects from start to finish
  4. Impeccable writing skills and a desire to do that writing -- we produce a lot of copy!
  5. An equal interest in strategy and creative work
  6. Familiarity with email tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, EveryAction, or Luminate is essential
  7. Empathy, communication, respect, and the ability to act as a role model at Blue State
  8. Experience with paid media or SMS campaigns is a plus!

At Blue State, diversity is a necessity, not a nice-to-have. We encourage those from underrepresented communities — women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, those with disabilities and people at all the intersections in between — to apply. Even if you don't think your current skill set checks every box, but this role seems to align with your strengths, we want to hear from you.
