What is EveryAction and what do people working in EveryAction roles do?

EveryAction is a software platform widely used by nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and political campaigns for donor management, fundraising, email marketing, and organizing efforts. People working in EveryAction roles typically help organizations set up, manage, and optimize their use of the platform to better engage supporters, track data, and achieve their mission-driven goals. Common responsibilities include database administration, training staff, creating reports, and integrating EveryAction with other tools. These roles may also involve troubleshooting, ensuring data integrity, and supporting campaign or fundraising strategies.

Everyaction is a digital platform used for managing campaigns, donor data, and online engagement, while a Fundraising Coordinator focuses on executing fundraising strategies and donor relations. Both roles often work within nonprofit settings but differ in scope: Everyaction is a tool, whereas a Fundraising Coordinator is a role that may utilize such tools to achieve fundraising goals.

What are some common challenges faced by EveryAction administrators when managing large-scale campaigns?

EveryAction administrators often manage complex data sets and coordinate with multiple stakeholders across campaigns, which can present challenges such as ensuring data accuracy, maintaining clean records, and integrating with other digital tools. Balancing customization of workflows for different teams while keeping the system user-friendly can also be demanding. Staying current with updates to the platform and training new users are additional ongoing responsibilities, but these challenges help build strong problem-solving and project management skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EveryAction Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EveryAction Specialist, you need strong data management skills, experience with CRM platforms (especially EveryAction), and a background in nonprofit operations or fundraising. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail help you support teams and ensure accurate data handling. These skills are crucial for maximizing donor engagement, streamlining operations, and supporting successful fundraising campaigns within nonprofit organizations.

About the Role
Director of Engineering, EveryAction
About EveryAction & Bonterra
EveryAction is Bonterra's multichannel CRM and digital engagement platform, built for nonprofit fundraising. It brings fundraising, marketing, advocacy, and CRM together in one unified experience, helping organizations deliver personalized outreach across email, mobile, and digital channels. EveryAction serves a wide range of nonprofits, from growing midsize organizations to large, enterprise, and national missions, helping them engage supporters, raise more, and grow donor lifetime value.
EveryAction is also home to Bonterra Que, our agentic AI suite built directly into the platform. Que doesn't just advise, it acts: building campaigns, segmenting donors in plain language, drafting emails aligned to brand and best practices, and surfacing the insights fundraisers need to make smarter decisions. Grounded in the largest data set in social good and built with humans in control, Que already has strong adoption across our customer base. This role will help build and scale that product line.
Who You Are
You are an experienced engineering leader who thrives on helping teams succeed. You have built scalable systems in complex domains such as SaaS platforms, integrations, and AI/ML infrastructure. You balance strong technical credibility with exceptional people leadership: you code, you understand system design tradeoffs, and you can architect with conviction. You are passionate about AI-first development and committed to building responsible, trustworthy systems that serve their users and mission.
The Role
You will manage two Scrum teams (two to four engineers plus one QA analyst each), guiding EveryAction's core platform and AI capabilities, including Bonterra Que.
Key responsibilities:
  • Partner with product, design, and data science to translate product strategy into scalable, production SaaS and AI functionality.
  • Innovate with AI-first development practices like agentic harnesses and development loops to increase shipping velocity and quality.
  • Serve as a key architect of the platform helping navigate large bets on the technical future of the product in a world with AI.
  • Own cross-functional alignment with Security, Compliance, and Data teams, and ensure SOC 2 compliance.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams: conduct code reviews, foster alignment, and create an inclusive environment where engineers tackle hard problems.
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for product and design leadership, aligning on roadmap priorities, technical constraints, and timeline expectations.
Requirements
  • 2+ years building production AI systems (LLMs in enterprise settings, with tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot).
  • 10+ years of hands-on software development with deep technical credibility across the full stack.
  • 6+ years managing and maintaining production systems.
  • 6+ years managing engineers cross-functionally, with a demonstrated ability to build team alignment and conduct thorough code reviews.
  • Management experience across two or more medium to large scale organizations, with a track record of adapting to different team cultures and operating models.
  • Strong expertise in C#/.NET (4.5+), React.js or Angular.js, and Azure SQL.
  • Understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and integration patterns in production environments.
  • AI/ML systems experience, including ML pipelines, recommendation engines, and model deployment.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, fundraising, or digital engagement.
