Job description

Production Supervisor - Day Shift (Monday-Friday 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

Who we are looking for: 

We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to be based out of our Pendleton, OR manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for supervising production associates and processes that have responsibility for manufacturing PVC Pipe products.

What you’ll do:  

  • Lead using the Atkore Business System and Lean Daily Management within their teams and utilize Lean tools for improvement projects focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity performance. 
  • Develop plans and implement strategies to improve the engagement, alignment, and performance of the production team members. 
  • Instill and maintain a positive “can-do” team atmosphere within the team by holding regular team meetings, assigning tasks to team members, empowering team member decision-making, and coordinating support services. 
  • Implement cross training activities to ensure proper function of the production lines and maximize team’s potential. 
  • Develop and coach team members with necessary skills to identify problems and challenges, perform root cause analyses and implement countermeasures and solutions as necessary. 
  • Control and optimize labor, materials and equipment utilization to achieve production goals.
  • Ensure team members are meeting safety standards, production schedules, and quality specifications.
  • Manage vacation schedulesand overtime. 
  • Lead by example and live the Atkore Values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. 

What you’ll bring:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience in plastic pipe/conduit extrusion strongly preferred. 
  • High energy, strong work ethic, schedule flexibility, and ability to work additional hours based on business needs. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, including conflict resolution. 
  • Continuous improvement background (lean, WCM, GMP, etc.) and the passion to grow your lean experience.  
  • Ability to thrive in an environment focused on problem solving throughout the day. 

Within 3 months, you’ll:  

  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Start supervising your direct team on daily requirements and managing without guidance. 
  • Understand safety, quality, delivery, and cost opportunities and start prioritizing improvement needs. 
  • Gain an understanding of our products and processes. 
  • Follow and modify leaders standard work for daily, weekly, and monthly requirements. 
  • Review and sign-off on hour-by-hour boards, send daily production reports, and facilitate KPI board reviews. 

Within 6 months, you’ll:  

  • Participate in a Kaizen event relevant to your position.
  • Take full ownership of the shift’s Lean Daily Management, including Tier 1 Gemba, and KPI boards. 
  • Fully understand how you and your team impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). 
  • Lead various training sessions for your team. 
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, and HR to investigate and provide corrective actions for on-the-job safety injuries, customer complaints, and employee relations issues. 
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. 
  • Coach for performance, behavior, and culture.   

Within 12 months, you’ll:  

  • Be leading an efficient team that meets or exceeds performance goals for SQDC. 
  • Identify gaps and implement counteractions to expected performance. 
  • Own formal improvement tracking, including action plans. 
  • Create and update reports, training materials, and procedures, as needed. 
  • Drive Lean Transformation for your shift; initiate and implement projects to improve SQDC. 
  • Have meaningful conversations with your direct reports to improve their engagement, alignment, and performance. 
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $68,960 - $94,820.  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
