SUMMARY
SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Advisement and Internship Coordinator in the Department of Healthcare Studies. The successful candidate will provide academic advising to new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students while supporting recruitment efforts for departmental programs. The Coordinator will assist students in identifying, securing, and applying for internships, as well as teach the department's internship courses. In addition, the Coordinator will coordinate departmental events and activities that support student engagement and program success.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates intake, academic advising, and course scheduling services for new majors, including graduate students.
  • Provides orientation and career advisement to new majors in the Addictions & Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, and Master of Healthcare Administration programs.
  • May teach up to six credits per semester.
  • Facilitates articulation agreements with new internship sites and community colleges.
  • Assists students with identifying and applying to internship openings.
  • Advises students on resume and cover letter development.
  • Prepares students for internship interviews through coaching and mock interview sessions.
  • Helps with program accreditation/certification processes including applications and renewals.
  • Leads recruitment efforts for undergraduate and graduate programs by developing marketing materials, attending recruitment events, and conducting outreach to relevant populations.
  • Plans and facilitates department events (e.g. Professional Development Day, etc).
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community partners, colleges, and internship sites.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Addictions & Behavioral Health or a closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Experience collaborating with public, private or non-profit sectors
  • Experience in advising, counseling or student services
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience planning and facilitating events
  • Experience working with treatment and/or behavioral health agencies
  • Experience working in healthcare organizations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule:
37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm.

  • NYS Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) - Defined benefit plans; benefits are based on best Final Average Salary and years of service.
  • SUNY Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) - Defined contribution plan; benefits are based on the employer and employee contributions and the success of the investments. Employer contribution is 8% of salary for first seven years of service, 10% thereafter.
Membership for full-time and permanent employees is mandatory. All full-time employees are eligible to elect ERS or the ORP; employees in teaching, librarian, or coach (including assistant) titles are also eligible for TRS and may choose any of the three plans.
