Event Management Remote information

What is event management remote?

Event management remote refers to the planning, coordination, and execution of events from a location outside of the physical event venue, typically using digital tools and online platforms. Remote event managers handle logistics, vendor communications, attendee engagement, and program scheduling virtually. This approach has become increasingly popular due to advances in technology and the need for flexible work environments. Remote event management can apply to virtual, hybrid, or in-person events, allowing professionals to oversee details from anywhere.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote event manager?

To thrive as a Remote Event Manager, you need strong organizational skills, project management experience, and a background in event planning, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with virtual event platforms (such as Zoom, Hopin, or Eventbrite), project management tools, and CRM systems is essential. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are key soft skills for coordinating teams and managing client expectations remotely. These skills enable seamless execution of virtual events, effective teamwork, and high client satisfaction in a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote event management role, and how can they be addressed?

Remote event managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating teams across different time zones, ensuring clear communication, and managing virtual event technologies. To address these, it's important to establish regular check-ins, use project management tools for transparency, and stay updated on the latest virtual event platforms. Building strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders through consistent communication also helps ensure successful event execution, even when working remotely.

What is the difference between Event Management Remote vs Event Coordinator?

AspectEvent Management RemoteEvent Coordinator
CredentialsRelevant experience, certifications like CMP or CSEP often preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent; certifications optional
Work EnvironmentPrimarily remote, flexible hours, virtual collaborationOn-site or hybrid event venues, client meetings, on-location setup
Industry UsageUsed across corporate, non-profit, and entertainment sectors for planning and logisticsCommonly employed in event planning, logistics, and client coordination roles

Event Management Remote and Event Coordinator roles share overlapping skills in planning, organization, and client communication. However, Event Management Remote typically involves overseeing entire events remotely, requiring more strategic and managerial skills, while Event Coordinators focus on executing specific tasks on-site or in-person. Both roles are vital in the event industry, but their work environments and responsibilities differ significantly.

Event Management ServiceNow ITOM Developer
The Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to combine hands-on development with big picture thinking to make an impact on the services people rely on every day? You understand that detecting a problem is only the beginning, and that the difficult work is getting it to the right owner with enough context to act on - or resolving it without interrupting anyone at all. As a ServiceNow ITOM developer on our team, you'll own the layer where monitoring signal becomes action. Your customers will trust you not only to build and tune Event Management - connectors, event rules, correlation and grouping logic, and alert-to-incident automation - but to evolve it, moving event classes from human-handled to fully automated one at a time, each with the verification, rollback, and evidence to demonstrate it is safe. On our team, you'll broaden into ITOM, CSDM, and agentic operations. This is a hands-on development role. You'll write and review code, and what you build will act on production systems. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
What You'll Work On:
  • Build and tune ServiceNow Event Management, including connectors, event rules, correlation and grouping logic, aggregation, and alert-to-incident automation.
  • Normalize severity and event fields across monitoring sources so that every alert arrives on one consistent, ITIL-aligned scale.
  • Engineer entity-to-CI binding accuracy, partnering with CMDB owners on identification, reconciliation, and CSDM alignment where binding breaks.
  • Develop automated and agentic remediation with bounded blast radius, approval gates, verification that the service recovered, rollback, and a complete evidence trail.
  • Integrate monitoring platforms with ServiceNow through REST, IntegrationHub, and Flow Designer, and keep those integrations stable through platform upgrades.
  • Move event classes from human-handled to automated one at a time, and prove each one with evidence that holds up under audit.

Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow development, including workflows, forms, UI policies, business rules, and integrations
  • Experience working in Scrum or SAFe
  • Experience with JavaScript, the Glide API, and Python or a language for data transformation and automation, and with event management concepts including deduplication, correlation, alert grouping, and threshold design
  • Experience integrating monitoring or third-party systems using REST or SOAP APIs, including MID Server configuration and troubleshooting, and knowledge of CMDB structure and CSDM
  • Experience building automation with explicit safety design, including approvals, verification, and rollback
  • Ability to run root cause analysis on detection gaps and false positives, tracing a bad alert from source event through rule evaluation to the record it created
  • Bachelor's degree in a CS or Information Systems field
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience delivering a ServiceNow Event Management implementation end to end
  • Experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and Service Portal development
  • Experience with ITOM Discovery and Service Mapping in depth, including custom pattern development and CMDB health remediation
  • Experience integrating a major monitoring platform as an event source
  • Experience with Now Assist or ServiceNow agentic capability, or with ServiceNow in a DoD or accredited environment
  • ServiceNow CIS - Event Management, CIS - Discovery, CIS - ITOM, Certified Application Developer (CAD), or ITIL v4 certification
