Job Description
We are seeking experienced Inpatient Medical Coders to join a large-scale initiative bringing coding operations back in-house. This is a remote contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for long-term employment. The ideal candidate will have strong inpatient coding experience and expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
- Assign and validate Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs)
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies
- Meet established productivity and quality standards
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) and Revenue Cycle teams as needed
- Maintain coding accuracy and support optimal reimbursement outcomes
Qualifications
- Active AHIMA or AAPC certification (CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or CPC)
- Proven inpatient coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG methodologies
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
