Job description

Job Title: Monitor Technician

Location: RWJUH Somerset

Department Name: Telemetry Services

Status: Hourly

Shift: Evening

Pay Range: $21.29 - $26.71 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The technician delivers telemetry to in patient units and performs monitor connection/discharge, patient preparation, and teaching related to the monitor.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required through American Heart Association.

Preferred:

  • Telemetry and/or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia course preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Evening Shift
  • Part-Time 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Observe the heart beats and interpret arrhythmias/heart readings from the monitors and look for any significant changes
  • Report changes to nurse or physician
  • Multitasking and prioritizing urgent situations is essential
