Job description

Unarmed Security Officer | Evening & Overnight Shifts | Providence & Central Falls

SecurityRI is currently hiring part-time and full-time Unarmed Security Officers for evening and overnight shift coverage across Providence and Central Falls. Active posts include convenience store locations in Providence, high-rise apartment buildings, and luxury apartment communities in both Providence and Central Falls. This position is suited for a disciplined, alert individual who takes pride in accountability, professional communication, and consistent execution across every shift, and who is comfortable working independently through the evening and overnight hours.

About SecurityRI

SecurityRI has been protecting businesses and communities since 1981. As Rhode Island's License #1 security company, we provide professional security services throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts while offering stable employment, advancement opportunities, and a supportive team environment.

Shifts Available

Full-time and part-time openings are available, with a mix of weekday and weekend shifts. Shift assignment is based on post need and candidate availability.

  • 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM
  • 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM
  • 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (occasional)
  • Position Overview

Officers assigned to these posts are responsible for maintaining a visible, professional presence throughout the full shift while actively monitoring their assigned property. This is a technology-forward environment. All reporting, clock-in procedures, and patrol verification are completed through company-provided mobile applications, and officers must be comfortable operating a smartphone and navigating basic mobile platforms. Every shift begins and ends with a digital clock-in through our attendance system, and patrols are verified through tour tracking technology that requires officers to scan designated checkpoints throughout the property every hour. There are no exceptions to these procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

Officers scan all assigned checkpoints every hour throughout the shift to verify patrol coverage through our tour tracking system, and clock in and out at the start and end of every shift using our mobile attendance platform without exception. Officers submit detailed, accurate incident reports through our digital reporting application and document all observations, security concerns, access activity, and out-of-routine events immediately and in writing.

Throughout the shift, officers monitor building access points, lobbies, elevators, and common areas, de-escalate situations using sound judgment and clear verbal communication, and conduct thorough shift handoffs with incoming officers, communicating all relevant activity from the shift. Officers escalate suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or emergencies to supervision immediately and maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times on post.

    What We Are Looking For

Strong written and verbal communication is a core requirement for this position, not a preference. Officers must be capable of writing clear, detailed, and accurate incident reports that document times, observations, individuals involved, and actions taken. Vague or incomplete reporting is not acceptable and is treated as a performance issue.

Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment in evening and overnight environments, the ability to remain alert and focused across late and overnight hours, and a willingness to consistently follow post orders and company procedures without deviation. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and strong communication skills. Prior experience in residential, hospitality, or commercial security is preferred but not required.

    Technology Requirements

All officers must own or have consistent access to a smartphone capable of running our patrol and reporting applications. Prior to the first shift, SecurityRI provides a full walkthrough of the hourly checkpoint tour tracking system, digital clock-in platform, and incident reporting application. No advanced technical experience is required, but the ability and willingness to learn and consistently use these tools is essential to the role.

    Compensation/Benefits

SecurityRI offers competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, performance, reliability, and overall fit. Following the successful completion of the introductory period, employees may be considered for compensation adjustments, advancement opportunities, and additional responsibilities based on business needs and individual performance.

We also offer weekly pay, direct management support, and access to additional shifts throughout our portfolio across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
